We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit whose mission is to ensure that preschool children, living in the Verde Valley from low income families have age appropriate books of their own in their homes.

Volunteer-based Verde Valley First Books sponsors monthly interactive story times for preschoolers, daycare and Head Start Centers in Sedona and Verde Valley.
We are proud to have 25 volunteers who go into 18 schools and distribute these books to over 500 students.

Each child receives a book to take home and share with his/her family. At the end of the school year, they will have a mini-library in their homes. We also leave books with each classroom every month.

- Read to and interact with children to help them get excited about books before starting kindergarten.
- Help children learn simple words and sounds.
- Promote parent/guardian reading to children at home.
